Unit 10

This class has taught me a couple of new things such as the paramedic method of revising which I had never heard of before. It has also helped me enhance some of the writing skills I already possessed. All of the writing classes that I have taken so far at Kaplan have been very useful and have taught me things that will stay with me forever. I'm sad to see this class end. All of my classes seem to just fly by. I can't believe I've been a student here at Kaplan for almost a year already. It doesn't seem like it was that long.

Unit 9

It's been a tough week for me. I injured my shoulder at work on Thursday, and it's my right arm that is hurt which makes it difficult for me to type among other things. I'm trying to do as much as I can without further injuring it, but everything seems to be going ok with it, it's not broken or dislocated so that's good news.
This has definitely been a great class for me. I have learned many new things to use in order to better myself and my writing. I know that the things that I have learned will be used in my future studies and in life.

I always have a hard time with editing a paper. I am learning some new techniques here at Kaplan that I have never heard of before. It always helps to learn different ways of doing something that can be difficult for you. One thing that I have always used ever since I began writing is peer review. I think that the greatest thing to do is step back and have someone else look at it and get their imput. When you are looking at the same thing over and over again it can help to get an opinion from an impartial person.

This Pennsylvania weather is killer on sinuses! :) I've been sick the last couple days, so I got a little behind on my work and everything else, but I think the extra resting time helped me to feel a little better sooner. I did what I could when I felt okay to do it, which wasn't very often, but today I'm feeling a lot better and got a lot done. I have two pretty decent size papers to do this term, but I picked pretty interesting topics that I know a lot about to begin with and it is easy to find a lot of different resources on, which definintely helps. I just hope that I can kick this bug out of me completely and feel 100% again soon.

Week 5

Informal prewriting has always been a hard thing for me to actual put down. I usually keep my ideas in my head and put them in my outline. Sometimes I jot down things from an article but usually just short hand notes to remember. So actually having to write down my prewriting is a little difficult for me to do, but hopefully the more that I have to do it, the easier it will get!!

Plagiarism

This week has taught me alot. I've always known that plagiarism was wrong, but actually learning how easy it is to give someone credit makes it so much clearer. The Unit 4 video was very helpful in that it showed how we actually give other people credit for something that they have said when we speak. I know that I am constantly saying "this person said to...". I can definintely say that I never thought of that as "citing" that person, but I will from now on.

It's been a rough week. I got a reality check of exactly how short life can be. My son's grandfather passed away Sunday. He was the most selfless person that I have ever met in my entire life. He always put everyone else's needs before his own. He was amazing to all four of his grandchildren, his family, and his friends. I am so thankful that my son isn't old enough to understand, because he truly adored him. So school has been a little rough for me this week, because it's been hectic, but I'm jumping right in this weekend and doing what I need to do.
